Granada – City of the Royal Hills

Description:

Route: Alhambra – Generalife – Old Town – Cathedral – Royal Chapel – Bishop’s Palace

The Moorish cultural heritage of Granada belongs to the best examples of world art. The geographical location of the city is also quite impressive. Built on three hills (Albaisin, Sacramonte and Sabica), on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada, it gradually descends to a fertile valley, mastered by the Moors; in the background, the snow-covered peaks of the Sierra Nevada shine. Today, of course, the survey is difficult: too many new neighborhoods have surrounded the main city of the province (273,000 inhabitants) with one of Spain’s largest universities. A visit to the Alhambra requires a minimum of 3 and a half hours. Entrance tickets to the monument are recommended to buy in advance via the Internet. On the day of the visit, you can buy tickets only in the first hours of the opening of the monument. It takes at least 2 hours to visit the historic center. It is possible to organize a visit to the flamenco show in the evening in the cave-taverns of the Sokramonte quarter.
