The Royal Road and the Lakes of Guadalore

Description:

The so-called “Royal Road” is a narrow pedestrian path about 1 m wide in the El Chorro Gorge, in the Ardales Nature Park, near the lakes of Guadallorse. These places are considered the most beautiful in the province of Malaga, and the name of the road was given in 1921, when it passed the King of Spain Alfonso XIII.

For a long time the road was half destroyed, and the passage on it was forbidden. A few years ago, the Royal Road was opened to visitors, and was actually rebuilt.

Hiking route on the road is available for people of any age, children from 8 years old. The total distance of about 7 km we walk in about two hours. After that, on a regular bus, we return to the starting point, to the restaurant “El Mirador”. By the way, a very good restaurant near the lake with fantastic views and excellent cuisine.

To pass the “Royal Road” you need to pre-order an entrance ticket in a few weeks.

In summer, we usually swim and sunbathe on the lake after the route, in a specially equipped place for this.

Drive time from Marbella, 1 hour and 20 minutes, from Malaga, about 40 minutes. Absolutely safe!
