Malaga: History, the sea and the city that lives without a rush
Description:
Malaga is a city of light, sea and amazing tranquility. There is no sharp contrast between the past and the present: ancient civilizations, Andalusian culture and modern life exist side by side without interfering with each other. Phoenicians, Romans and Moors left their mark here, and the XX century gave the world Pablo Picasso - an artist without whom it is impossible to imagine the history of art.
Our walk will begin in the historic center of the city. We will walk through cozy squares and narrow streets, talk about how Malaga was formed, see its main cathedral, known as the One-Armed Lady, and find out why it remained unfinished. The historic heart of the city holds many details that are easy to miss without a close look and story.
Next, the route will lead us to places related to the life and childhood of Pablo Picasso. We will talk not only about his work, but also about Malaga of the late XIX – early XX century, in which the future artist was formed.
Then we go up to the Moorish fortresses above the city. Alcazaba, a fortress of the XI century, is often called the “little Alhambra”. There are arches, courtyards with fountains and some of the best panoramas of Malaga: the city, the sea and the mountains unfold from this height especially beautifully.
After the descent, we will go to the sea and walk along the embankment and port zone. Palm trees, yachts, street musicians and a modern port show the other side of Malaga - lively, open and very Mediterranean.
The tour will end with a pause in an authentic cafe or bar with a view - over a cup of coffee or a glass of local wine. This is the moment when the city is not just seen, but felt.
The tour is held in an individual format, at a calm pace, with the opportunity to adapt the route to the interests of guests.
