Provincial Museum of Fine Arts

Plaza De La Aduana, 1, Malaga, Costa del Sol, Spain

About the company:

In 1913, the Spanish king issued a decree establishing provincial museums of fine arts. A direct consequence of this decree was the formation in 1915 in Malaga of the museum of the same name, in August 1916 it opened its doors to visitors.

The fine arts that are collected here are, without exaggeration, a magnificent collection of works by Spanish artists of the 15th-20th centuries. Here are the works of Murillo, Morales, Goya, Velázquez, sculptures of Pedro de Mena, and, of course, paintings of the famous Picasso born in Malaga (the museum exhibits his very interesting children's drawings) and his teacher Muñoz Degrain.

The museum has moved several times, and now, together with the Museum of Archaeology, it is located in the historical center of the city in the Aduana Palace. Just now, work on expanding the exhibition space is being completed there and access to the museum is difficult.

The full opening of the exhibition is expected again in 2013.
