Marbella

Excursion to Tangier, Morocco

Description:

The existing interstate agreement allows Russians to visit the Kingdom of Morocco visa-free. Just an hour and a half drive from Marbella to the city of Tarifa, another hour by ferry and we are on the African coast, in Tangier, a cosmopolitan city with a population of about a million people.

We leave the port and pass first through the Portuguese Quarter, the Spanish Quarter, the English Quarter, and then enter the California District, the former American Quarter, home to the city's wealthiest residents. Cape Spartel, and the lighthouse of the same name here, this is the place where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. Going to the Cave of Hercules, we stop next to the ocean. Here you can take a walk on a camel or take a photo with a “ship of the desert”.

Medina, the old part of town. There is a fish market where you can see huge ocean tunas, and a real Arab bazaar. Time is frozen in the narrow streets of Tangier. Lunch is held in a typical Moroccan restaurant to the singing of local musicians. The tour continues in souvenir shops, where you can buy carpets and spices of local production.

We move to the port and return to the home continent, the port of Tarifa.
