Monteagudo Castle

Monteagudo, Navarra, Spain

Description:

The name of Monteagudo Castle comes from the name of the mountain on which it is located. And next to the fortress is the eponymous road connecting the roads of Castile and Alicante.

The fortress is located on the top of a rock located five kilometers from Murcia. Due to its strategic location, people have settled on the hill since the Bronze Age. The Romans also did not bypass this place - it is believed that once at the foot of the mountain there was a city destroyed during the wars between the Visigoths and Byzantium.

To this day, the fortress is well preserved and now it is one of the most beautiful monuments of Murcia. Recently, restoration has been carried out on the territory of Monteagudo Castle, as well as archaeological research. During recent excavations, funerary urns dating back to the Bronze Age were discovered, as well as fragments of architectural monuments and ceramics of Roman and Iberian cultures.
