Valdemossa + Deya + Sa Foradada
Description:
Valdemossa is one of the most beautiful villages of Mallorca, located on the hills of the Tramuntana mountain range, about 17 km from Palma. This is a quiet traditional town with narrow streets and alleys, with houses made of white stone, along the doorways of which beautiful green plants and flowers stretch. While walking around Valdemosse, you will often encounter the image of St. Catalina Thomas, who is the patron saint of the city.
Valdemossa’s most popular attraction is the 13th-century Cartesian Monastery, where Frederick Chopin and George Sand spent the winter of 1838–39. There George Sand wrote his work “Winter in Mallorca”. During the tour you will find a fascinating story about these times, about the difficult relationship between Frederick Chopin and George Sand, as well as the story of the first “tourist” of the island – Archduke of Austria Luis Salvador.
In Valdemossa, there are still traditional family bakeries, where it is possible to taste the favorite dish of the locals – “potato pie”, this is a soft sweet product from dough with boiled potatoes, it can be tasted with coffee or hot chocolate.
The next point of our excursion is Cape Sa Forada with a through hole in the rock, a place that is a classic view of the island.
The tour ends with a walk through the streets of the city of Deia - an oasis of peace, the muses of many people of art, and now people of art come here. The houses of this town are built of honey-colored sandstone, which gives it an original appearance, and a sense of being in another harmonious world, not influenced by civilization. Once in this place lived the famous poet Robert Graves, and the famous traveler Ava Gardner visited this place in search of inspiration.
