Royal resort of Santander

Santander is the royal resort of northern Spain.

A city with luxurious beaches, unrealistically beautiful coast, elegant parks. Santander has been compared to diamonds on the crown of the Spanish monarchs.

Getting to know the city I suggest starting at the seaport. You will learn how Santander came into being and developed.

Then we go to the historical part. We will make stops at the monuments that remind of the tragic events in the life of the city. We will visit the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin, where you will learn the legend associated with the main relics that are stored here.

In Pereda Park, we will talk about the cultural life of Santander and visit the Botin Center, a modernist building designed by Renzo Piano.

The business card of the capital of Cantabria is a picturesque embankment, which surrounds the city with an openwork plume. Luxury villas, parks, casinos - there is everything for the most exquisite holiday. We will admire the fabulous views of Santander Bay. We will stop at the most important buildings of the city, including the Bank of Santander.

Then we head to the Magdalena peninsula, where there is a luxurious palace built for Alfonso XIII as a summer residence. You can walk through the royal park and admire the corners of nature, among which the Spanish monarchs rested.

On the peninsula there is an open-air museum “Man and the Sea”. You will see copies of caravels on which Europeans plowed the expanses of the Atlantic.

We will make a stop at the mini-zoo, where we can watch how seals and sea lions greet visitors.

You will have the opportunity to appreciate the sandy beaches of Santander, relax on the terrace of one of the coastal bars overlooking the endless waters of the Atlantic, try the masterpieces of sea cuisine of Cantabria.

The tour will end in the port of Chico, where fishing boats have long huddled. At the sculpture, divers remember the old tradition and toss a coin to return to the city again. We will tell Santander, “See you soon!”
