St. James' Cathedral

Spain, Santiago de Compostela, Praza Prater as

Description:

In the north of the country, in Santiago de Compostela, is the greatest shrine of Spain - the relics of St. James, the heavenly patron of the country. Santiago is the last city of the famous St. James’s Route, which included the whole of Europe. The remains of the apostle are buried in the cathedral of the city.

The construction of the temple began in 1211 and continued for another 400 years. Since the facades of the cathedral were built at different times, they are made in different architectural styles. The most impressive - the central facade - is made in the late Baroque style.

In the Cathedral is kept another valuable relic - a thorn of crown of thorns, which was on Jesus Christ.
