Church of San Andres
Spain, Segovia, Leon, Plaza de la Merced, 2, 40003 Segovia
Description:
The Church of San Andres is named in honor of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called and is located next to the Plaza de Puerta des Moros in Mercedes Square.
There is a church in a quiet area of Segovia. Before San Andres there was a temple, which was erected over the burial place of St. Isidor, who is the patron saint of Madrid. Interestingly, the previously peaceful area was considered dangerous, since robbers raided Puerta de Motors Square.
The majestic and beautiful tower of the church of San Andres creates a huge impression – it can be seen from all places of Segovia. It is noteworthy that the amazing retable with paintings by Herrera Alonso adorns the interior of the church of San Andres, making it even more significant for the Spaniards.
