Description:

According to the original idea, the Alcázar was supposed to become a fortress that performs fortification functions, but during its existence it was used as a royal palace, a state prison, and a royal artillery academy. Now this popular tourist building, of course, turned into a museum. And it became popular due to its remarkable location.

The museum exhibits collections of furniture, weapons, portraits of the kings of Castile. Today, 11 halls are open in the Alcázar and the tallest tower is the tower of Juan II. In the throne room, one of the most interesting in the Alcazar, you can see the throne chairs under the canopy, an octagonal ceiling and a wide carved frieze. In the hall of the galley, you can not ignore the ceiling, which has the shape of an inverted hull of the ship.

Don’t forget to visit the Royal Hall. In the days of kings, it was the most important in the Alcazar. Coronations and weddings were held here, so all the kings of Leon and Castile are represented on the frieze in this hall.
