St. Joseph's Caves
Spain, north of Valencia, Val de Usho
Description:
The Caves of St. Joseph are, in fact, the bed of an underground river. Surprisingly, scientists have never found its origins. It is also difficult to talk about the origin of the river, although its antiquity can be judged by rock paintings, whose age is determined at 15,000 years. Swimming in a boat through underground grottoes, tourists sometimes find that the river leaves only 80 cm to the upper vault of the tunnel.
The vaults of the underground river bed themselves are very picturesque and resemble an underground cathedral. This feeling is enhanced by the skillful illumination of stalactites. One of the most delightful places of the cave is the “Flower Falls”, to which a pedestrian road leads. Another surprise of the caves are restaurants and souvenir shops, which are located right in the grottoes.
