Holy Virgin Square

Valencia, Spain

Description:

St. Virgin Square is one of the oldest and most beautiful squares of the city of Valencia. In ancient times, it was here, on the island between the flows of the Turia River, that the history of the old city was laid. A silent reminder of the ancient river are the waters of the fountain that adorns the center of the square. Around the square are surrounded by the most beautiful buildings of Valencia: the Central Cathedral, the Generalitat Palace and the Basilica of the Holy Virgin of the Les Miserables.

The name of the square was fixed after the construction of the Catholic church Nuestra Senora de los Desamparados in honor of the Holy Virgin. St. Virgin Square is considered a meeting place for the Valencians. The main fountain of the square always has a lot of people. The fountain is decorated with a large statue of Poseidon and several small statues. Here you can take beautiful photos, feed pigeons or just sit for a cup of coffee in the nearest restaurant.
