Mestallia Stadium

Plaza de Valencia C.F. 2, 46023 Valencia, Spain

Description:

The sports arena of Valencia bears the name of Mestallia and is the home stadium for "bats" - this nickname was given to the football club "Valencia" because of the bat depicted on the coat of arms. The football stadium was built in 1923 and today holds 55,000 spectators. Initially, in order to save money, the stands in the stadium were made of wood.

During its history, Mestalya has undergone six reconstructions. The most global of them occurred after the Spanish Civil War - as a result of those deplorable events, the stadium was completely destroyed.

In Mestallia, the Valencia club became the champion of the country six times, raised the Spanish Cup seven times and became the owner of the UEFA Cup twice.
