Salvador Dali Museum
Description:
At the border with France, between the mountains and the sea stretches the valley of Ampurdan - the homeland of the artist Salvador Dali. Today, the small town of Figueres, which houses the world’s largest surrealist museum, lives in the memory of the Catalan genius. In the windows of shops and bars, photographs of their owners in the society of Dali are exhibited; in the museum, located very near the church, where little Salvador was baptized, long lines are lined up, and in numerous souvenir shops reproductions of paintings are sold.
The Salvador Dali Museum is an unusual, extravagant, eccentric and mysterious place like its author. Small rooms are filled with surprises that only the most attentive can discover. Incomprehensible sculptures, which after explanation make sense; paintings with optical effects; still lifes confirming Freud's theories; images with the symbols of massons and schemes of Leonardo da Vinci; characters moving from picture to picture, who pursued Dali since childhood.
Surrealism is a world of dreams, dreams, fantasies, so in the Dali Museum you can not believe what you see - it can be (and will be) only a figment of your imagination and vice versa, you will see something that you simply did not see, but when you see it, it will disappear again. Everything in this museum is ghostly and passing like a dream, as obscure thoughts, shadows and memories, in which we ourselves do not realize - this is the world of Dali, in which you can look, visiting its museum.
In addition to the originals of Salvador Dali, in the museum you can admire the stunning collection of jewelry made according to his sketches.
I began to study the work of Dali during the lifetime of a genius, when I was lucky to be in his museum for the first time. My knowledge is not based on questionable books or articles on the Internet, but on officially confirmed sources, materials and testimonies of artists who collaborated with Dali himself. But you can say that my teacher is Dali himself, because a genius who died in 1989. He left behind many interviews in four languages that can be seen on YouTube. Dali perfectly explained the meaning of his paintings, and I try to convey his explanations in my own words.
For many years I have been studying the work of Dali and yet from time to time I continue to find something new and unexpected, so diverse, unpredictable and, despite the world fame, this artist was little known. Salvador Dali was not only an artist: he was a sculptor, an engineer, a writer, a critic, a decorator, a jeweler, a scientist, a designer, a fashion designer ... and for sure something I do not know yet.
The Dali Museum is a private institution, there is no control over the license of guides. Therefore, it is so important that the tourists themselves, who paid for an individual guide, make sure that they are really an accredited professional with an official license, and not a random person.
In addition to the museum in Figueires, I conduct tours in other Dali museums: the House-Museum in Port Lligat Bay and Pubol Castle.
