Roman Villa del Cazale is an ancient Roman villa built in the III-IV centuries AD and located about 5 km from the city of Piazza Armerina. Since 1997, Villa del Casale has been one of the 44 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy.
The villa was the central manor of a large estate and is one of the most luxurious buildings of this kind. It is best known for the well-preserved (4,000 m2) mosaics that adorn almost every room. These mosaics are one of the richest collections of ancient Roman art preserved in its original form.
