Cava Grande Reserve - the Cassibile River

Description:

Founded in 1990 to preserve and restore Mediterranean fauna, the Cassibile River, a 10-kilometre-long natural reserve, runs through the cities of Avola, Noto and Syracuse, one of the largest rivers in southeastern Sicily. It occupies a vast area in 2696 CA and is located on the "Iblei" plateau.

Paradise, a monument of natural heritage, history and archaeology - is of immeasurable value. The fabulous landscape attracts many connoisseurs of nature here. The river “Cassibile” has a peculiarity, it moves, creating small waterfalls with crystal clear water, flowing into calm, perfectly transparent lakes – while creating an incredible miracle of nature. People come here to relax from the heat, swim in cool water and feel complete isolation from the outside world. Throughout the river there are ancient burials - rows of stone tombs carved into the rock - these burials, like the graves, Pantalika, are an integral feature of Sicily.
