Excursion from Verona: Villa Valmarana "at the Kariks" and Villa Rotonda

Description:

Villa Valmarana "at the Dwarves" and Villa Rotunda

On the small hills of Berichi, not far from the city of HIV, two villas were built, which are one of the most famous and impressive in the Veneto region.

Villa Valmarana at the Dwarfs.

Villa Valmarana "at the Dwarves" was covered with frescoes by the hand of the famous Venetian artist of the middle of the XVIII century, Giambattista Tiepolo, who is one of the most important masters of the Rococo era. Tiepolo spent his life frescoing churches, palazzis and villas, achieving universal acclaim and admiration.

An exceptional characteristic of his frescoes is a special flavoured light pink shade, which gave rise to the term “pink Tiepolo” in the art of painting.

In the frescoes at Villa Valmarana, the artist will resurrect four major poems from the entire history of Western literature: Homer’s Iliad, Virgil’s Aeneid, Ludovico Ariosto’s Furious Orlando and Torquato Tasso’s Liberated Jerusalem.

The Guest House was painted with frescoes by his son, Giandomenico Tiepolo, an equally talented artist who showed courage and broke away from the departing world with heroes and princesses, painting the walls of the house with episodes from the surrounding reality.

In his New World, Gandomenico Tiepolo will leave the dramatic classical images that were so dear to his father, overturning the concept of classicism, which finally exhausted itself and came to an end.

Villa Valmarana offers a wonderful view of the small Valley of Silence and the small surrounding romantic park where you can walk a little.

Villa Rotunda

Villa Almerico Capra called "Rotonda" is an icon of the incomparable Andrea Palladio, a very famous architect and theorist of the Renaissance.

Villa Rotonda is the result of a long inner maturation of the architect, who was lucky to meet an unusual customer Count Paolo Almerico, brought up in the most sophisticated circles of Italian culture.

Paolo Almerico had a strong passion for antiquity and his personality greatly influenced the development and perfectionism of the model, thanks to which he wanted to put himself on display.

Villa Rotunda resurrects the forms of the classical temple, reflecting the meaning of divine meaning and symbolizing the existence of a sublime intellectual model. Palladianism spread throughout the Veneto region and later throughout Europe and many other countries.

Villa Rotunda continues to shine under its own rays and is today the most simulated villa in the world, with 80 imitations in different countries in every corner of our planet.
