The Judean desert. Monasteries

Description:

For hundreds of years, the Jewish desert has attracted hermits, monks, rebels, and people hiding from the authorities.

In the caves of the Judean desert, archaeologists find a lot of interesting things.

The purpose of our tour is the Jordan River. On the border with Jordan, we will visit the site of the Baptism of Jesus of Nazareth. According to Old Testament tradition, it was here that twelve Jewish tribes led by Joshua entered the Promised Land.

We will visit the monastery of Gerasim of Jordan, near Jericho, the oldest city on earth. See the mountain of temptation, the place where Jesus overcame the temptations of Satan.

Visit the Good Samaritan House and the Samaritan Mosaic Museum.

If possible, we will visit the desert monasteries – the Lavra of Khariton and the Monastery of George Hozevita.
