Galilee

Galilee is Christian

Description:

I offer you a trip around the Christian Kinneret. Our journey to the shores of the Kinneret or the Sea of Galilee will pass through the biblical places of Armageddon and of course the city of Nazareth. Jesus himself was called the Nazarene.

Basilica of the Annunciation. Nazareth.

The angel came to her and said, Rejoice, O Graced One! The Lord is with you; blessed are you among women. But when she saw him, she was confused by his words and wondered what kind of greeting that would be. And the angel said to her, Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found grace with God; and behold, you will conceive in the womb, and bear a son, and you will call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father; and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end.

(Luke 1:28-33)

In the grotto of the Annunciation there is a throne under which there is a marble circle with a cross inside. Above it is an inscription in Latin: “Verbum caro hic factum est” (“Here the Word became flesh”), since it was here, according to legend, that the Virgin Mary stood during the Annunciation.

In the interior of the Basilica, biblical plots are encrypted, where the Old Testament plots are a prefiguration (a prototype or hint) of the New Testament plot. Deciphering messages is a fascinating activity in itself.

In the courtyard and in the Basilica itself there are numerous images of the Virgin Mary - gifts from different countries.

Church at the Source.

In Nazareth there is a beautiful Orthodox church "At the Source". Based on the proto-gospel of Jacob. Archangel Gabriel first met Mary at this source. It is not always open, but we have a chance to visit it and get some water from the source.

Church of the Sermon on the Mount. Kinneret.

We will go to the Kinneret, where the Church of the Sermon on the Mount is located. The Sermon on the Mount is the most beautiful text of the Bible, and the Church of the Sermon on the Mount is the most beautiful place in Galilee. I suggest that you conduct a detailed textual analysis of the Sermon on the Mount at the site where it was delivered before the confluence of many people.

The Beatitudes

  1. When he saw the people, he went up to the mountain.
  2. When he sat down, his disciples came to him.
  3. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,
  4. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  5. Blessed are those who weep, for they shall be comforted.
  6. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
  7. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for truth, for they shall be satisfied.
  8. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
  9. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
  10. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
  11. Blessed are the exiled for righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  12. Blessed are you when they revile you and persecute you and curse me in every way unjustly.
  13. Rejoice and rejoice, for great is your reward in heaven.
  14. So they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Tabha.

We will visit the Church of the Multiplication of Bread and Fish, Tabhu, where an ancient mosaic of the Byzantine period, glorifying the miracle performed by the Lord, is preserved on the floor. Jesus was able to feed a large number of people who came to hear His teachings with only two fish and five loaves.

Capernaum.

Near Tabha is Kapernaum or Kfar Nahum, where we will definitely look. Now an archaeological park and an octagonal (octagonal) church stretch on this place. Through the glass floor of the church we will see the ruins of the house of St. Peter. It is the world’s first domestic church.

Additional bonuses:

Beautiful Orthodox Church of the Twelve Apostles.

Yardenite. If desired, we will visit the place where pilgrims perform a repeated symbolic baptism in the waters of the Jordan. Colorful landscapes here are framed by well-equipped descents into the water.

The tour is designed for 10-12 hours, but since we spend a lot of time on the road, it is possible for people of different ages and different physical fitness. As with all excursions to the Holy Places, there are certain requirements for appearance: clothes should be modest, that is, shoulders and knees should be covered, and it is advisable for ladies to take headscarves.
