Iotapata Fortress

Iotapata Fortress is an ancient and inaccessible fortress of the town of Yodfat.

According to the Biblical tradition, it was possible to pass to the city only from the northern part of the rock on which it is located.

About two thousand years ago, the Roman army tried for a long time to get the city, but its inhabitants fought for their native place until the end.

After a long siege, they still managed to get inside and destroy everything they could find. Only some remains of the houses and the fortress remain.

To get to the fortress of Iotapata is most convenient by car on the 70th highway, then turn east at the crossroads of Avalim.
