Lake Birkat Ram
Description:
Lake Birkat Ram is a mystical reservoir near Mount Hermon in the Galilee. Since it is located in the crater of the volcano, it has a circular shape and small size. 900 meters long, 600 meters wide and up to 5 meters deep. The water in the lake is quite cold, as the glaciers from the nearest peaks flow here.
There are many myths and legends about Birkat Ram: it was worshipped as a sacred pond and pilgrimages were held. In addition, some believed that the old Hermon himself was cooling down here.
You can get to the lake only by excursion bus or by your own transport to the northeast of the Golan Heights.
