Excursion to the Dead Sea, Jordan River, Masadu Fortress
Description:
Excursion to the Dead Sea with departure from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.
This is an excursion combining a holiday on the beach of the Dead Sea and a visit to the most interesting places, monuments of world historical significance and the place of Baptism on the Jordan River - an important Christian shrine.
If the tour begins in Tel Aviv, we cross the whole of Israel from west to east, in this place the width of the country is 100 kilometers.
We begin our journey on the Mediterranean Sea, climb the mountain to Jerusalem at an altitude of 800 meters, and then descend into a huge depression to the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley.
Even in terms of geography, this place is unique. Height -420. The lowest place on the surface of the planet.
The first point of our route is the Jordan River. We approach the Jordan at the place closest to the city of Jericho. In this place entered the Promised Land Israeli tribes led by Joshua. At this point, John the Forerunner called people to plunge into the sacred waters of the Jordan River, Jesus of Nazareth came to him. For the first time, the Gospel tells us of the voice of God speaking to Jesus in this place. For all Christians of the world – it is the most important shrine – the place of Baptism on the Jordan River. Those who wish to immerse their bodies in the river can buy special baptismal shirts on the spot. There's a shower and a place to change.
Today, the Jordan River and the Dead Sea cross the border between the Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Israel. The place of Baptism is located in the border zone.
Along the way, we have many interesting places, and I build a program based on the interests of my tourists. On the Jordan you can visit the monastery of Gerasim of Jordan – a real oasis in the desert. On the way to the Dead Sea, the remains of the Good Samaritan Church are a museum of Byzantine and Samaritan mosaics.
Then we drive along the Dead Sea, enjoying breathtaking views of desert nature.
The next point is the fortress of Masada. The remains of the Roman siege that have survived to this day. Fortress on the mountain, built more than two thousand years ago. We will climb up the cable car and walk on the surface of the fortress. I'll tell you the tragic story of Masada's defense. In the visitor complex at the foot of the mountain we will have lunch. Those who want to buy Dead Sea cosmetics will find a large chain store AHAVA.
After the active and informative part of the tour, we move on to rest and relaxation. The unique water of the Dead Sea will welcome you into its salty embrace. We are going to swim on a nice paid beach. At your service - locker rooms, showers, toilets, canopies, chairs and sun loungers. In the water of the Dead Sea they do not dive or splash. It is better not to taste the water - it is salty and bitter.
After bathing, we will head back west, following the sun falling over the horizon into the Mediterranean Sea.
