Jerusalem—Khan railway station

If I Forget You, Jerusalem

Description:

We shall begin the Jerusalem route in the City of David with the phrase of his Psalm: “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand dry, let my tongue stick to my heaven.”

After watching an exciting three-dimensional film about the history of the Holy City and visiting a number of land-based sites of the National Park, we will go down into the dungeons and walk through one of the ancient tunnels almost to the Siloam Bath, where the descendant of David Jesus worked miracles.

Further, along the street built by Herod, we will climb to the Temple Mount on the territory of another National Park "Davidson Center"*, where we will get acquainted with artifacts of the Roman conquest and see firsthand the traces of destruction left after the attack of the Roman legionaries two thousand years ago.

Then, having visited the Western Wall, we will pass along the entire Western Wall along the Tunnel of the Temple Mount to the underground cistern Stration, capturing also an even older section of this tunnel.

Returning to the Western Wall, we will climb into the Jewish Quarter and continue to explore the oldest finds found in the Holy City. We will see the walls that are more than two thousand years old, the Roman pavers, the Byzantine street, and complete our route at the ancient column that once stood on the Temple Mount.

If a visit to the Temple Mount Tunnel is not possible, we will make our way to the Israel Museum, where we will get acquainted with the stunning layout of Jerusalem during the Second Temple period and visit the Temple of the Book, where the oldest scrolls of Scripture are stored.
