Jerusalem at the Origins of Religion
Description:
There are three religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and one city is Jerusalem.
On the ancient Byzantine map, our world is depicted in the form of a shamrock.
The three petals on the map symbolize the three continents: Europe, Asia and Africa, and Jerusalem as the connecting point, the center of the world.
Today, we perceive Jerusalem as a spiritual center, a place where three religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are intertwined in one knot.
How and when did the holiness of Jerusalem arise? What is the reason why Jerusalem is inextricably linked to the development of each of these three religions?
You will learn about all this on the excursion “Jerusalem at the origins of religion”.
Places we will visit:
Observation deck on the Mount of Olives, which offers beautiful views of Jerusalem, including the Old City and the Temple Mount, where one of the most important mosques in Islam is located - the El Aqsa Mosque.
The Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed the last night before his arrest.

The Wailing Wall and the Temple of the Holy Sepulchre.
