Amazing places of East Jerusalem.
Description:
The atmosphere itself is hypnotizing. Just imagine how many purest thoughts, how many tears of sorrow and joy, how much happiness and hope, despair and pain carried along the streets of old Jerusalem – men and women who have been here for two millennia. Imagine the energy of these stones!
Our itinerary for today:
(1) Shechem Gate. One of the most beautiful gates and the main gate of the Muslim quarter. Narrow cobbled streets, Roman columns, majestic walls with numerous arches immediately become native and fill you with a sense of unreality.
(2) St George's Anglican Cathedral. The Palace of Westminster is taken as a model. The cathedral is complemented by the bell tower, which gave it a special and recognizable silhouette. Around the cathedral is a botanical garden, which breeds plants mentioned in the Bible. A piece of old England in the middle of town.
(3) Rockefeller Museum. One of the most interesting and amazing museums in Israel, it has the largest collection of ancient artifacts. The exposition itself includes archaeological finds made in these places, and related to different periods - Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek, Roman, Muslim. In the courtyard of the museum there are sarcophagi, tombstones, vessels, sculptures and their parts - especially everyone is struck by a part of a giant foot, from a statue of the Roman period, whose height reached almost 6 meters.
(4) Garden grave of Protestant Calvary. It is the most extraordinary temple in Jerusalem. This is an amazing monastery that is located under the open sky. Protestants consider the location of the temple the place of the crucifixion and burial of Christ. Here noticed a rock pattern which resembles a human skull, which means the Aramaic word Calvary. This is a stunning place that has an ancient history and which holds many secrets. In addition, the temple is located in a cozy and beautiful garden, where tourists like to come.
