Masada cable car
Description:
The Masada cable car is a funicular to the ancient fortress of Masada, which is located in Israel on the top of the plateau.
This cable car is the lowest in the world, as its lower station is 257 meters below sea level, and the upper one is only 33 meters above sea level. It was built in 1971 by the Swiss company Carl Brandl, in order to conveniently transport people to the archaeological complex on top of the mountain.
During the initial construction of the cable car, one supporting support and 2 trailers were used, which covered a distance of 900 meters with a rise of 290 meters. And in 1998, it was decided to improve the cable car and now the wagons go the entire distance without the support of supports. The fare on the cable car in both directions is $ 19.
