Al-Aqsa Mosque

Old City, Jerusalem, Israel

Description:

Al-Aqsa Mosque Israel Jerusalem

Another name, the Remote Mosque, is considered a place of pilgrimage, like all of Israel for believers from all over the world and all faiths. Built on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, this makes it truly sacred. Among Muslims, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third place that every Muslim should visit, after Masjid Al-Haram in Mecca and the Prophet Muhammad Mosque in Medina.

The mosque represents an owl complex, with columns and galleries, united with Qubbat as-Sahra, which leads to confusion with the domes. Often, when guides say that this is the third most important Muslim shrine, they point to the baths of Qubbat as-Sahra. Don't confuse these buildings! Of course, Kubbat al-Sahra is also worth a visit! This is a majestic building, with ancient history and gilding.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque itself is quite small, but for Muslims it is very sacred. According to legends, it was here magically that the Prophet Muhammad was transported overnight from Mecca. On this holy night, Allah brought back to life the prophets who had previously instructed people and sent them to Muhammad.

Buses 1, 3, 51, 83, 746, and 882 go to the Western Wall stop. Entrance to the mosque costs 40 shekels.
