Monastery of Mary Magdalene
Church of Maria Magdalene, Jerusalem
Description:
This five-domed temple with golden domes is one of the temples in East Jerusalem. The construction of a church in memory of Empress Maria Alexandrovna was proposed by the head of the Russian spiritual mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Antonin Kapustin. In the temple there are many icons with particles of relics of saints.
In 2008, as a gift to the Gethsemane monastery, an ark with particles of the relics of the Monks Job and Amphilochius Pochaevskys was transferred.
You can get to Magdalene Monastery from the Old Town by going through the Lion’s Gate. You can walk on foot in 20-30 minutes.
