Jaffa Street in Jerusalem

Description:

Jaffa Street is the longest street in Jerusalem and deserves special attention from a historical and architectural point of view. It was built in 1861 and was designed to connect Jerusalem with the ancient city of Jaffa. This was the main route the pilgrims took to Jerusalem. Some of the buildings were demolished in 1944 so that they would not obscure the beauty of Jerusalem. There are no buses and taxis, only an Israeli tram, a trip in which will show the beauty of the city. In local cafes, you can try meat with spicy seasonings directly from the fire. Many shops offer to purchase kips. Street musicians liven up the street with music of various styles.

Jaffa is one of the brightest streets, almost all houses are covered with red tiles. The Clock Tower Synagogue has a centuries-old history, with mechanical and solar clocks installed on it.

All plates with house numbers are made in Hebrew, Arabic and English.

You can get there by bus 18, 74, 75, by tram 1, on foot from Jaffa Gate.
