Sultan Suleman Street, Jerusalem, Israel | East Jerusalem
About the company:
The Rockefeller Archaeological Museum is located in the eastern part of Jerusalem, opposite the Gate of Herod. There are a huge number of artifacts that date back several thousand years and belong to different historical periods: Canaanite, Israeli, Arab and Ottoman. All of them were found during archaeological excavations in the early twentieth century in Israel and Palestine.
The museum was founded in 1938 with the money of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., whose name is immortalized in the name of the institution. The building, built of white limestone, resembles a fortress in its appearance than an exhibition center.
