Galilee of the New Testament
Description:
The route through the New Testament Galilee will begin with the valley of Megidon (the place of the future last battle of Good and Evil), from where we will go to the Tverias Sea through the waters of which Jesus walked as on earth.
Arriving at the Sea of Galilee (another name of the Tverias Sea), we will visit Kibbutz Genosar, in the museum complex of which there is the “Jesus Boat” – an ancient boat discovered by kibbutzniks on the shore in the late 80s of the last century.
Christianity believes that since the wooden frame of a boat has not rotted in 2000 thousand years (!!!), it was only Jesus’ foot that walked on its deck.
From the kibbutz we proceed to the Mount of Beatitudes, where on the site of the pronunciation of the Sermon on the Mount stands the stunning Catholic Church of Antonio Berluzzi - the true genius of Architecture, and from there - to the Orthodox Capernaum in the Church of the Twelve Apostles. Like many other churches in the Holy Land, this church is unique. It is consecrated in honor of the Twelve Apostles, as some of them were from these places, but it stands on the spot where Jesus performed the miracle of healing the relaxed.
After dining with St. Peter's fish and leaving the lake, we will go to Cana of Galilee - the place of the first Jesus miracle - the transformation of water into wine, where we will visit the Orthodox Church, standing on the site of the wedding feast and, buying inexpensive Kansk wine, bringing happiness in marriage, we will go to the holy for all Christians Nazareth.
In Nazareth we will visit two churches: the Orthodox Church of Archangel Gabriel (Orthodox Annunciation Church) and the Catholic Basilica of the Annunciation.
In the Church of the Archangel Gabriel there are a number of Unique icons, a special place among which is occupied by the image of the All-Pure Virgin with the Child in the womb. Having collected Holy water in the Spring of the Virgin Mary, we will go to the Basilica of the Annunciation.
If we are lucky, and there is no mass in the church at this moment, then we can go down to the Gornitsa itself, where, according to the Catholic tradition, the Word became flesh. Here at one of the most important shrines of Christianity we will finish our route.
