The Whale Fountain

Louis Pasteur 4-8, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

Description:

The Whale Fountain is located near the Jaffa Embankment, which was the main port of ancient Israel, now merged with Tel Aviv.

The sculpture of a whale carved out of stone recalls the biblical story of the prophet Jonah swallowed by a whale. Jonah, disobeying God, sailed on a ship, was swallowed by a whale and spent three days in his womb. He was then taken to shore and released. The fountain is open and accessible all year round.

In Tel Aviv, the attraction can be reached by public transport: buses and trains. There is a taxi on Saturdays at a higher rate.
