Gush-Zion History Museum

Gush Etsyon, Giv'atayim, Israel

About the company:

The territory of Israel is quite small, and located in its center Gush Zion can rightly be called the heart of the country. It was here that the Jewish state was born in ancient times. It was here that the road from Jerusalem to Hebron lay, and the surrounding lands are full of historical monuments.

During the war for the independence of Israel, the massif of Zion included four kibbutz, who took the brunt of the enemy forces. Desperate resistance of the defenders was broken, and about 250 soldiers fell heroic deaths, and the inhabitants of the kibbutz were brutally killed. Miraculously only eight hundred-year-old oak survived. In 1967, the descendants of the fallen heroes returned to the homeland of their ancestors and founded a new village, the history of which is presented in the museum exposition.

Today, Gush Zion includes 15 Jewish settlements through which the Road of the Fathers passes. In ancient times it was passed by the forefather Abraham, who moved to Jerusalem from Ber Sheba. This road was also known to the Romans, who paved it and erected pillars every mile. On the Road of the Fathers there is another historical place - mikvah - a place of ritual washing of people with water.

And if we talk about the magnificent landscapes of Gush Zion, then it can be compared with the Italian Tuscany.
