Mother's Day
Description:
“There is no better academy than a mother’s knee.” Two centuries ago, the American poet, critic, publicist and professor of Harvard University James Russell Lowell believed so. Nothing seems to have changed since then, and all over the world, throughout the ages, grateful sons and daughters of their mothers will agree with it.
Mother’s Day Holiday in Canada is not just a warmer and more affectionate version of March 8, International Women’s Day. The birth of this holiday is the result of the tireless efforts of Miss Anna Jarvis, an American from Philadelphia, who wanted to recognize not only her mother, who raised 11 children, but all mothers in general. She was able to convince President Wilson of the need for an official celebration, and in 1914 the second Sunday of May was designated in America as Mother's Day. Canadians joined the idea of officially organized retribution on this day of honors and gratitude to mothers.
On this day, as we have on March 8, they give mothers gifts, make them all sorts of pleasant surprises and even relieve them of the obligation to wash dishes (and wash them in the dishwasher, for example). Usually, all family members get up early on this day, but mother's morning sleep is protected especially carefully. And while her mother is asleep, all her favorite dishes are prepared for her, and when she wakes up, they serve her breakfast right in bed. Treat her all day like a queen, pleasing and entertaining her. The only thing she is allowed to do on this day is to open the front door when you hear the call of the messenger who delivered a gift ordered for her in advance or a luxurious festive bouquet.
Shops on the eve of Mom's holiday, of course, "in full combat readiness." Specially for this day, many products are produced "for mothers", with congratulatory inscriptions on beautiful labels. In advance, you have to take care of ordering a table in a restaurant if you are going to invite your mother on this day for a festive lunch or dinner. And tickets for excursions and recreational trips, which are becoming an increasingly popular gift for Mom’s Day in Canada, are sold out a few weeks before it comes. It is noteworthy that the organizers of festive tours of Mother’s Day on a special excursion train Prairie Dog Central Railway, cruising among the landscapes of the Canadian prairie, in addition to excellent conditions for rest, provide also personal gifts for all moms traveling on it.
Mother-in-law and mother-in-law also do not remain unattended on this day. After all, they, according to Canadian scientists, in fact are not hated and always interfering in their affairs monsters. The study, commissioned by Hallmark Canada and Chatelaine magazine, involved more than 600 Canadians aged 18 to 60. 90% of respondents said they actually love the mothers of their wives and husbands, and 9% of Canadians consider relationships with mothers-in-law even closer than with their own mothers. All this, according to the researchers, suggests a change in the face of the Canadian family.
Before the onset of Canada’s widely celebrated Mother’s Day, a large number of buyers are interested in postcards for women who do not fall into the traditional category of mothers. Hallmark, a leading postcard company, is constantly increasing sales of its products for mother-in-law and mother-in-law, who are intended to read: “One who is like a mother.”
