Snaring River

Jasper National Park, Jasper, Canada

Description:

The Snaring River is one of the main tributaries of the Athabasca River. It flows through Jasper National Park in Alberta. The source of the river is located in the Rocky Mountains of Canada at an altitude of 1084 meters and feeds on the melt waters of Mount McCord, Rutherford, Beaupre and others. An additional source is Lake Harvey, which has its runoff into the Snaring River.

The original name of the river was in honor of the ancient tribe that lived on the banks of the river in dugouts and obtained food by catching animals with the help of various traps. The flow of the river is directed to the southeast and merges with the Athabasca River. The depth of the reservoir is small, and the current is quite fast, which gives the impression of a stormy river.
