Historical Village in Local History Park

Canada, Alberta, Calgary, Heritage Drive, 1900

Description:

The historic village in Local History Park is one of the most sought-after attractions of the city of Calgary in the Canadian province of Alberta. The local history park is located on the shore of the Glenmore reservoir and covers an area of about 500 thousand square meters. Historic village shows the life of a Canadian village in Alberta at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries.

The village is formed mainly by real historical buildings of the time, brought to the park from different parts of the province, but some buildings are accurate reconstructions of existing buildings. The staff of the Local History Park in vintage costumes recreates for tourists the everyday village life of a hundred years ago. The village is divided into four regions, each of which reflects a specific historical period from 1864 to the thirties of the last century.

Visiting the village, you can see a working steam locomotive carrying visitors through the park, ride on an old tram or on a reconstructed wheeled steamer, visit the existing forge, bakery, hotel and several shopping shops.
