McMahon Stadium

1817 Crowchild Trail Northwest, Calgary, AB T2M 4S7, Canada

Description:

McMahon Stadium is the fifth largest stadium in Canada. Located in the northwestern part of Calgary, it is the home arena of the Calgary Stampeders football team, which plays in the national league.

The stadium was built in 1960 and initially accommodated 35,650 spectators, was subsequently reconstructed and the number of seats increased by almost 10,000. The stadium is equipped with artificial coating, this is done due to the constantly changing climatic conditions. The McMahon Stadium went down in history as a venue where the opening and closing ceremonies of the XV Winter Olympics took place in 1988.

Getting to the stadium is quite simple - it is close to two metro stations, and on the days of football matches to park a car near the stadium is almost impossible - locals passionately root for their team and actively attend the games. The stadium was named after brothers Frank and George McMahon, who donated a large sum to complete the construction.
