About the company:

The Glenbow Museum is one of the largest in Canada. Here exciting stories from the history of Western Canada are intertwined with works of art from different parts of the globe. Combining Calgary’s largest art gallery, beautiful library and archives under one roof, the Glenbow Museum holds more than a million exhibits distributed across numerous thematic collections and continues the great cause of preserving the world’s cultural heritage.

The history of the Glenbow Museum began thanks to the initiative of enthusiastic entrepreneur and lawyer Eric Lafferty Harvey. He was the owner of land on which oil was discovered in the 40s of the twentieth century. Encouraged by the prosperity of his company, he decided to make every effort to develop his passion. Harvey was a passionate collector, so he got the idea of returning a piece of his collection back to a region that was so generous to him. The main task of Eric Harvey saw the creation of a museum representing not only the history of Western Canada, but also the culture of different countries of the world.

In 1966, the Harvey family donated their magnificent collection of unique artifacts, works of art and historical documents to the province of Alberta. Since then, the museum carefully preserves the heritage of the founders and dynamically develops, playing a key role in the development of culture.
