Description:
The Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve is a national park in Canada that is located in the province of Quebec on islands in the northern part of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, in the Canadian province of Quebec.
The reservation consists of forty limestone large and small islands and more than 1,000 granite islets and reefs that stretch along the northern shore of the bay for 150 kilometers at a distance of about 3.5 km from the shore. Here you can see grottoes, cliffs and monoliths of different shapes, sizes and colors.
On the southern side of the islands belonging to the national reservation, there is a complex system of arches and grottoes, which are of great scientific importance. They preserved the fossilized remains of more than two hundred marine organisms. The northern side of the islands abruptly breaks to the sea, forming cliffs about 15 meters high, while the relief of the central part of the islands is more gentle.
Nature is very harsh and diverse. There are also swamps and coniferous forests. Only 150 square kilometers is home to more than 450 plant species, of which 100 are rare and endangered. Coastal waters are rich in plankton and fish, so you can see not only dolphins and seals, but also nine species of whales.
