Rivière du Nord Regional Park

Canada, Province of Quebec, City of Saint Jerome

Description:

The Rivière du Nord Regional Park is located near the city of St. Gerome in the Canadian province of Quebec, less than thirty minutes from Montreal. The park is located in a picturesque area in the foothills of Lavrentin and offers its visitors traditional types of recreation in nature - walking, cycling and skiing, skating and fishing.

The park houses an abandoned pulp and paper mill that once belonged to the Wilson family. During the walk you can explore the former buildings of the plant, as well as see the remains of the dam of the hydroelectric power plant serving the plant in the first half of the twentieth century, and a number of other hydraulic structures. The pearl of the park is undoubtedly Wilson Falls, its powerful jets once generated energy for local production. The combination of beautiful nature and industrial facilities gives the Rivière du Nord a special charm.
