Madeleine Islands

Canada, Quebec, Madeleine Islands

Description:

Madeleine Islands is a Canadian archipelago in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, belonging to the province of Quebec. The chain of nine large and many small islands, most of which are connected by long and narrow sand dunes, resembles the shape of a fishing hook.

Bizarre forms of rocks made of red sandstone, many kilometers of white dunes, calm blue lagoons and endless sea expanses create a unique landscape that attracts tourists to the islands. On the territory of the archipelago there are three natural parks, focused primarily on preserving the species diversity of birds living on the islands. You can also visit the Seal Research Center and explore the colonies of these marine animals.

A wide variety of water sports are available on the archipelago - kayaking, diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, and of course, fishing. Fishing is the main occupation of the locals - so you can always taste excellent freshly caught fish or try your hand at it. Of the sights of the Madeleine Islands, you can also mention the Museum of the Sea, where you will be told about the numerous shipwrecks that occurred off the coast of the archipelago.
