Lake of the sixteen islands
Canada, Quebec province, Lac de Sez-Il
Description:
Lac de Sez-Il or Lake sixteen islands is located in the tourist region of the Laurentine mountains, ninety kilometers from Montreal. The lake stretches for five kilometers in length, its maximum width is about one and a half kilometers, and the depth is about three hundred meters. On the northern shore of the lake is the village of the same name, founded in 1897. In fact, the number of islands on the lake is eighteen, but the two islands are too small to inhabit and do not have their own names.
Since the beginning of the last century, the lake is a popular place for summer holidays in the lap of nature. On the picturesque shores of this beautiful lake, as well as on most islands, there are many cottages and summer houses. Most of them can only be reached by boat. The traditional type of recreation on the lake is trout fishing.
Through the village passes the famous linear park, organized along the route of the abandoned railway. On the paths of this park, which stretches for almost sixty kilometers, you can walk and cycle, and ski in winter.
