Lake Temiscuata
Canada, Quebec, Temiscuata-sur-les-Lac
Description:
Lake Temiscuata is the second largest lake in the Canadian province of Quebec, south of the St. Lawrence River. Its length is forty-five kilometers, and its width reaches five. According to the most common version, the name of the lake in translation from the language of the local Indians means “deep water”. The bizarre coves of Temiscuata are surrounded by high hills, the shores of the lake, devoid of shoals or beaches, steeply break into the water.
Due to its geographical location, Lake Temiscuata has long been an important crossroads of trade routes, and many architectural and archaeological monuments of those times have been preserved in the vicinity of the lake. The opportunity to get acquainted with this cultural heritage is offered by three tourist routes laid in the lake area: the border route, the explorer route and the rural route.
Tourists who came to Temiscuata can do a variety of water sports - go for a walk on kayaks, kayaks or boats or catch red and gray trout, which is abundant in the waters of the lake. In the near future, the Lake Temiscuata area is planned to be declared a National Park of Canada.
