Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel (Sherbrook)

150, rue Ozias-Leduc Sherbrooke, QC J1H 4M1, Canada

Description:

The Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel, located in the city of Sherbrook in the Canadian province of Quebec, was built in 1854. The first church was slightly different in appearance from the current one and was dedicated to St. Columban. In 1874, the cathedral was renamed in honor of St. Archangel Michael. Before becoming the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke, the church was decided to rebuild. For this purpose, the architect Louis-Napoleon Aude was specially invited, who proposed a redevelopment project.

According to him, the new Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel was supposed to resemble the Paris Notre-Dame de Paris. Construction continues with constant interruptions until now. Today in the church there are services with the participation of two organs.
