St. Catherine Street

Rue Sainte-Catherine Est, Montr al, Quebec, Canada

Description:

St. Catherine Street in Montreal, Quebec, is the main commercial artery of the Lower City. It crosses the downtown business district from west to east, begins at the corner of Claremont Avenue and ends at Vio Street. The street runs parallel to the large underground complexes of Montreal, which connect the office tower and several shopping complexes. It has five higher education institutions, as well as many branded shops and restaurants.

Throughout the summer, the street is blocked for traffic, as a result of which it becomes a huge pedestrian zone. Here you can visit the only church in Canada, which is located on the shopping center – Christ Church Cathedral. Also in the summer, there are many events and festivals on this street, the most famous of which is FIMA, the Montreal International Art Festival.
