30,000 islands

Description:

30,000 Islands is a truly unique place on Earth that will not leave anyone indifferent!

With a Russian guide during this one-day tour in the vicinity of Toronto, you will visit the mission of St. Mary and take a cruise “30,000 Islands” on Lake Huron. The 30,000 Island cruise passes through Georgia Bay, which is an integral part of Lake Huron. The length of the bay exceeds 300 km, the width is up to 80 km. Only on very detailed maps are thousands of tiny islands along the coast of this bay.

Called the 30,000 islands, they are actually over 40,000. During the tour, you will get acquainted with the history of the Huron tribe - the Indians of the northeast of North America - and the development of these lands by Canadian French missionaries. The magnificent open-air museum is a settlement of French missionaries in the Huron tribe, Indian long houses and pioneering buildings that give an idea of how the Indians and Jesuit fathers lived here in the 17th century. The Jesuit mission “St. Mary among the Hurons” is the first European settlement in the current Canadian province of Ontario.

During this part of the tour, you will learn how the first European settlers of the Huron country lived, as well as how the Indians who converted to Christianity and the pagan Indians lived. Like 400 years ago, the palisade encloses plots, workshops, cellars with food and residential buildings. At the height of the tourist season, the open-air museum is replete with guides who, in costumes of a previous era, play out scenes from the daily life of the Jesuit mission. The tour also includes a visit to the historical museum located on the mission grounds. We will see the Church of the Great Martyrs, built in an exceptionally picturesque place and is one of the main Catholic shrines of Canada.

People from all over the world come to the relics of fearless ministers of religion with simple everyday requests - prayers for a successful marriage, for healing from serious illnesses, for solving family troubles, for work. If you are interested in history, how the Indians lived, and love nature, then this day will be remembered for many years!

St. Mary’s Mission and the 30,000 Islands cruise are conducted by highly qualified licensed guides in Russian from May to October. During these excursions you will learn a lot about the first European settlers of the country of Huronia and 30,000 islands, but also about the province of Ontario and Canada as a whole.
