Montreal City Hall
275 Rue Notre-Dame Est, Montr al, QC H2Y 1C6, Canada
Description:
The City Hall in Montreal is considered one of the main attractions of the old city.
The symmetrical facade emphasizes the architectural separation of each floor. The building is decorated with a central clock, double porticoes and complex design chimneys and domes. The town hall also has a unique masonry. The central windows are decorated with five stained glass windows representing religion, port, industry and commerce, finance and transport.
The construction of the town hall began in 1872, but it acquired its modern appearance after a fire in 1922, during which the building was completely destroyed. After reconstruction, the new town hall appeared in the Empire style and acquired a mansard roof made of copper, which is decorated with large windows. The most beautiful view of the city hall building acquires at night, which is facilitated by the lighting workshop.
