Saint Helena Island

Montr al, Quebec, Canada

Description:

In the middle of the St. Lawrence River, in Montreal, is the island of St. Helena. It received its name in 1622, in honor of the wife of Samuel de Champlain, whose family it belonged to. During the War of 1812, the island was bought by the British government to build fortifications and forts. After some time, the newly formed government of Canada acquired the island, and in 1870 it was converted into a public park. During the Second World War, several prisoner-of-war camps were established here.

On this island there are several important attractions: the Stuart Museum, La Ronk - an amusement park, the old American pavilion from EXPO-67. Every summer there are various entertainment events on the island on weekends, for example, on Sundays music lovers can enjoy the music "electro" during the Piknic Elektronic Party.
