151 Rue de la Capitale Montr al, QC H2Y 2V2, Canada 48 m

Description:

Montreal’s Royal Square is located in the heart of Old Montreal. It is located in close proximity to Pointe-a-Caller, the place where the first French colonists landed in the early seventeenth century. This is the very first square of Montreal, which was first called the Place des Arms, then Customs Square and finally, in 1892, during the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the city of Montreal, it became known as Place Royale – Royal Square.

In the XIX century, a small square was broken up on the square and a fountain was built. Royal Square is now tree-free and hosts a variety of cultural and entertainment events in Montreal.
